Peru

This year, nine students attend MYSA School’s first international trip to Ollantaytambo, Peru! After three long flights and a rather bumpy van ride, we checked into our little hotel in this sleepy, Andean town. In the true immersive spirit of experiential education, we cooked with local women in their homes, carved wood in a local artisan’s studio, and learned Quechua from a Peruvian author. We took a train to Machu Picchu, where we challenged ourselves with an hour long solo exploration through this ancient city. The trip culminated in a drive and short hike to visit a high mountain Quechuan village and learn weaving from local women.
