Jun 28 Family Volunteer Fair 9/22/18
Mysa’s Second Annual Family Volunteer Fair
Community engagement is an important value to cultivate for parents, children, students, and organizations. Working to engage, advocate, and participate in volunteerism allows students to feel a greater responsibility for the well-being of their community. It’s a great way to connect as a family and better understand your children’s dreams and goals. An NYU study released even showed that students do better in school when they are involved in community service.
We invite you to join us! Please save the date – Saturday, September 22nd, from 1-3pm at Mysa Bethesda. Come with your family and learn about participating organizations throughout the community and ways you can spend time with your kids while volunteering for a great cause. There will be multiple organizations speaking with families about fun ways to volunteer and contribute as well as snacks and drinks for guests.
“Volunteering is a great way to spend time with your family while giving back to the community. While these organizations depend on their volunteers on the ground, it also offers children a chance to see how communities can come together and how volunteering can also be fun,” says Siri Fiske, Head of Mysa School. “We are excited to host these organizations in our school and meet the families of Bethesda.”
“We want to see more families participating together and meet more of the community members of Bethesda,” says Ariel Martinez Brumbaugh, Assistant Head of Mysa School. “These organizations are committed to the community of Bethesda and we can’t wait to bring everyone together in one place in September.”
So, please come out and join us; volunteering feels good, can improve your health and make you live longer! If you have questions about participating, please email info @ mysaschool.org. We hope to see you there!
